Who would have thought? 25 years of business in Accra, Ghana West Africa. When I started this journey, I had no idea that Cuppa Cappuccino would become what it is now.

Listed by Ventures Africa as a 'leading café in Africa' and with amazing testimonials from our wide range of clients and friends. The seed of everything is important, the intention behind an act, the reason for doing things. I have given this explanation many, many times but it is always important to go back to your origins.

I'd returned home to Ghana from the United Kingdom and visited Country Kitchen a popular lunch restaurant to have lunch by myself. I ended up feeling so uncomfortable that I decided to take my food away. Why, I asked could a single woman not sit by herself and have lunch?

I think that's where the concept started from, wanting to create a space where it was possible to sit and have a cup of tea without feeling weird. A haven, which it was for me, returning from the UK and a life of independence, to live with my parents.

It became a place of creative expression for me, a place that gave me a break from the world, even though the world came to me in that same place.

I love Cuppa Cappuccino, I know each plant, each intricate detail of this beautiful spot and I want to say that it is no small feat to keep evolving as a business in this place. I am always thinking about how I can make my clients happy, and it gives me the greatest pleasure when I spy on clients from my office and see them chatting, laughing, and enjoying our food.

Food is a form of communication and I always say that what I will not eat, I will not serve. We make mistakes sometimes, but all in all, my team and I do strive to make our clients happy any way we can.

I thank God with all my heart for this dream that He put on my heart and saw it through in December 1997 when we opened our doors to our first customer a tall handsome young man who bought a meat pie. I will never forget him.

It took a while to take off and we could sell one sandwich the whole day, I had to go and work sometimes to pay salaries. But it's been a worthwhile journey of friendships and connections, of people falling and staying in love in this café. Of marriage proposals and surprise engagement parties. It's been really in the last twenty-five years a place of Love Community and Stories.

I love Cuppa Cappuccino dearly and I am so grateful to God for this amazing opportunity to serve others. Happy Anniversary to all of us… Board of Directors, Management and Staff of Josie's Cuppa Cappuccino.

Here's to the next 25 years!
